Solar Panels for Irish Farms
Resolute has spent 15 years engineering solar systems built for the way Irish farms actually work. We handle your TAMS 3 grant application, design around your milking, cooling and pumping loads, and back every install with a 25-year maintenance contract.

Up to 60% Grant Funding
Irish farms can claim up to €90,000 under TAMS 3 (60% of installation cost) for agricultural solar PV. Farms not eligible for TAMS 3 can access the SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant of up to €162,600. Resolute’s grants advisory team manages the full application, including paperwork, ESB connection, eligibility checks and timeline, so you keep farming while we handle the funding.

Solar That Matches Farm Energy Use
Dairy parlours, milking systems, refrigeration, irrigation pumps, ventilation, grain drying. Irish farms run constant, daytime-heavy electrical loads. That demand profile is almost perfectly matched to what a solar PV system generates. Self-generated power from your roof costs a fraction of grid electricity and protects you from the price volatility that has hit Irish agriculture hard since 2022.
Cut Your Biggest Energy Cost
Irish business electricity averaged €0.23 per kWh in late 2024, well above the EU average. A correctly sized farm PV system replaces the most expensive imported kWh with self-generated electricity. That typically cuts daytime grid imports by 50 to 80% and delivers 4 to 7 year payback once grants are applied.
Power Milking, Cooling and Pumping
Dairy parlours, bulk milk tanks, irrigation pumps, slurry agitators, grain drying fans and ventilation systems all draw heavily during daylight hours. That is exactly when your panels generate. Self-consumption is what makes farm solar economics work, which is why we size systems to match your actual load profile, not your roof area.
Keep Generating after Sunset
Battery storage extends self-consumption into the evening and protects critical loads from grid outages. That is a real concern for dairy, poultry and any farm running cold storage. We design hybrid inverter systems matched to your usage curve and grid export tariff.
Pass Co-op Carbon Audits
Co-ops, processors and major retailers increasingly require carbon-reduction commitments from their supplier farms. A documented PV system with monitoring data is the cleanest way to evidence on-farm emissions reduction in supplier audits and Origin Green submissions.
Bifacial Panels Built for Farm Roofs
Resolute installs bifacial (glass-on-glass) panels exclusively. They generate from both faces, capturing reflected light from sheds, slurry tanks and ground surfaces, for a higher annual yield per kWp than conventional panels. For farm buildings storing fuel, fertiliser, machinery or feed, bifacial panels carry a superior fire-performance rating compared with standard glass-and-backsheet construction. That matters when your insurer asks what is on the roof of a building full of high-value stock.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Going Solar from Resolute Engineering Group. As a small family home B&B with many hips, valleys and dormers on main roof and limited space around house required for car parking some imagination was required and Going Solar came up with a plan on a budget to deliver us up to 11,000 kw of power annually via an Anker solid inverter and 20kw of battery, while housing our 25 solar panels on 2 carport structures. On completion the carpark was returned to pre arrival condition and our carbon footprint was slashed by up to 11000 tones a year. On power cuts with change over switch the batteries can keep our home lite for days. Soon Anker app will be updated to automatically fill batteries from any source when Met Eireann issues a red weather warning. Resolute engineering kindly threw in a 21kw zappi 3 phase car charger when doing the install. We had some drama during install that many would have walked from but @ResoluteEngineering @goingsolar saw the project through delivering a finished product any team could be proud of. Yesterday SEAI inspectors called and said top class finish, nothing left out, an install that makes their job easy Thanks to every one who had a part to play in our install at Going Solar @ Resolute Engineering https://resolutegroup.ie/Posted on Google Tom DonagherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A big thank you to the team for a very efficient and professional install yesterday. We're delighted with our system and surprised to see that our battery charge went from 25% to 79% today with solar alone, despite the awful weather. We also really appreciate the excellent advice on the size of system to go for and the best panel arrangement; we found the consultation process to be technically far superior to the sales talk of the other solar companies we spoke to.Posted on Google Finola O'RourkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very professional, well installed and easy to work with on grants etc. The panels are working great since installation earlier this year. I would definitely recommendPosted on Google Brian Tonge

Real-time performance dashboard, scheduled maintenance visits, and lifetime support under the 25-year maintenance contract.
Recent Project
Primark Distribution Centre, Newbridge
When the existing roof structure could not take a rooftop array, Resolute designed a custom ground-mounted system on the surrounding land, overcoming structural constraints to deliver the distribution centre with a custom solar solution. The same engineering capability applies to farm sites with unsuitable roof stock or available paddock land.
Typical Farm Solar Returns
Numbers below are sector ranges based on typical Irish commercial yields (850 to 950 kWh per kWp installed per year) and 2024 average business electricity rates of €0.23 per kWh. Your actual savings depend on your load profile, system size and grant eligibility. The free site assessment gives you a project-specific number.
30 kWp Dairy or Mixed Farm
| Annual generation | 25,500 to 28,500 kWh |
| Annual electricity savings | €4,500 to €6,000 |
| CO2 offset per year | 8 to 10 tonnes per year |
| Payback period | Typically 4 to 7 years with TAMS 3 grant applied |
50 kWp Poultry or Horticulture Site
| Annual generation | Approximately 42,500 to 47,500 kWh |
| Annual electricity savings | €7,500 to €10,000 depending on self-consumption rate |

Frequently Asked Questions
Usually no. Rooftop installs under 50 square metres or 50% of roof area are exempt. Larger or ground-mounted systems may need planning, which we confirm during the free site survey.
TAMS 3 covers up to 60% of cost to €90,000 for farmers only. SEAI NDMG pays up to €162,600 for any business. We handle whichever applies to you.
Yes. Under the Clean Export Guarantee, Irish suppliers currently pay 19.5c to 20c per kWh. We design for self-consumption first since that displaces 23c per kWh.
Dairy farms typically need 25 to 50 kWp. Poultry and horticulture often justify 50 kWp plus. We size from your half-hourly electricity data, not rules of thumb.
A 30 to 50 kWp install takes 5 to 10 working days. We schedule around milking, parlour use and busy cycles. Most farms see zero downtime.
Yes. Reflected light from sheds and yards adds 5 to 15% yield, and the higher fire rating matters above stored fuel, feed or machinery.
Every system comes with the option of a 25-year maintenance contract covering monitoring, inverter checks and component replacement. You get a live performance dashboard on your phone.
