Why Logistics Solar Works

Solar That Matches Warehouse Energy Use

Most warehouses and distribution centres have large, flat roof areas going completely unused. Combine that with high daytime consumption from lighting, refrigeration, conveyors and loading equipment, and logistics buildings become some of the strongest candidates for solar PV in Ireland.

Cut Your Biggest Energy Cost

Irish business electricity is among the most expensive in Europe. A correctly sized warehouse PV system replaces your most expensive imported kWh with self-generated electricity during the daytime hours your operation runs hardest.

Power Lighting, Refrigeration and Conveyors

Distribution centres run continuous loads across large floor areas: high-bay lighting, refrigeration units, conveyors, loading equipment and offices. Solar generates most when these systems draw most.

Lock In Your Energy Cost for 25 Years

Grid electricity prices keep rising. Solar gives you a fixed-cost energy source for 25+ years, replacing a volatile operating expense with predictable on-site generation that adds long-term value to the property.

Meet Supply Chain Sustainability Targets

Major retailers and manufacturers now require documented carbon-reduction commitments from their logistics partners. A monitored PV system is the cleanest way to evidence on-site emissions reduction.

The Resolute Product Difference

Bifacial Panels Built for Warehouse Roofs

Resolute installs bifacial (glass-on-glass) panels exclusively. They generate from both faces, capturing reflected light from roof surfaces and surrounding hard standing, for a higher annual yield per kWp than conventional panels.

For warehouses and distribution centres storing high-value stock, packaging materials or flammable goods, bifacial panels carry a superior fire-performance rating compared with standard glass-and-backsheet construction.

Case Study

Custom Solutions for Difficult Sites

Primark Distribution Centre, Newbridge

When the existing roof structure could not take a rooftop array, Resolute designed a custom ground-mounted system on the surrounding land, overcoming structural constraints to deliver the distribution centre with a custom solar solution. The same engineering capability applies to farm sites with unsuitable roof stock or available paddock land.

Domino's Distribution Centre: A Real Resolute Install

Resolute installed a 128.65 kWp rooftop system at the Domino’s Pizza Distribution Centre. The figures below are modelled from that installed capacity using Irish commercial yield ranges (850 to 950 kWh per kWp per year) and the 2024 average business electricity rate of €0.23 per kWh. Actual performance varies with site, load profile and grant funding.

128.65 kWp Distribution Centre

Annual generation109,000 to 122,000 kWh
Annual electricity savings€25,150 to €28,100
CO2 offset per year32 to 36 tonnes
Payback period4 to 6 years (post-grant)

FARM SOLAR FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

Time on site depends on system size and roof complexity, but we work around your schedule to keep disruption to a minimum. The full project from first survey to commissioning typically takes 8 to 14 weeks, with the bulk of that being grant processing and ESB connection paperwork. We give you a clear timeline before any work begins.

Savings depend on your building, energy consumption and system size, but logistics facilities with high daytime electricity use tend to see significant returns. Our Domino’s Distribution Centre install (128.65 kWp) is one reference point. We’ll provide a detailed projection after surveying your site.

The SEAI Non-Domestic Microgen Grant offers up to €162,600 for commercial solar installations. The Accelerated Capital Allowance lets businesses claim 100% of qualifying solar PV equipment as a Year-1 tax deduction. You can also earn export tariff credit for excess electricity sent back to the grid. Resolute handles the full application process for you.

Yes. Solar PV systems generate electricity from daylight, not just direct sunshine. Ireland receives enough daylight year-round for solar panels to deliver strong returns, particularly during the longer summer days when most logistics operations are running at full capacity.

Most commercial rooftop solar installations in Ireland do not require planning permission. Exceptions apply for protected structures or conservation areas. We confirm planning status as part of your free assessment so there are no surprises.

With a hybrid inverter and battery storage, your critical loads (refrigeration, security systems, conveyors, IT infrastructure) keep running during grid outages. We size battery capacity to your essential load profile during the design stage.

Our panels carry a 25-year product warranty. Resolute also offers a 25-year lifetime maintenance contract, unique in the Irish market. This covers ongoing monitoring, scheduled servicing, inverter health checks, component replacement and rapid-response support for the full life of your system.
